Champions Woodlands were feeling distinctly under the weather as they saw East Bierley move 14 points ahead of them at the top of the JCT 600 Bradford League Division One table.

Their frustration at seeing their match with Farsley being abandoned without a ball being bowled, was compounded when just a few miles down the road, East Bierley defeated Manningham Mills by 11 runs in a 25 overs a side contest.

It was East Bierley's fifth win in five starts and they are now the only Division One side with a 100 per cent record. The undoubted hero of their success was overseas fast bowler Jaffer Nazir. he took five for 52 as Mills were restricted to 122 for seven in reply to East Bierley's 133 for nine.

Asif Hussain (52) and Amar Rashid (40) batted well for Mills but couldn't spare their side from defeat. Wicketkeeper Lee Goddard had been the east Bierley top scorer with 33.

Bierley gained 14 points for their win - the margin they now lead Woodlands by at the top of the table.

Baildon were another team to benefit from a reduced overs game. They defeated Brighouse by 36 runs in a 34 overs a side contest to record their fourth win in five games. Opener Simon Webb, a close season recruit from Grimsby, top scored with 55 as Baildon made 148 for eight. Tabi Bhatti (40) and Simon Davis (37) gave good support. Spinners Chris Greenwood (4-51) and Rizwan Ahmed (3-5) were the pick of the Brighouse bowlers.

Skipper Mark Gilliver hit 55 for Brighouse, but they fell short of their target as Baildon's new Indian paceman Suyash Burkui claimed four for 49.

Pudsey Congs bounced back to winning ways with a 15-run triumph at Idle in a 30 overs a side game. Congs' overseas opener Afaq Raheem made 60 as Congs made 162 for seven despite some accurate bowling from Greg Colehan (3-27).

Idle, who have now lost four of their five matches, made 147 for eight in reply with Sri Lankan Dilhara top scoring with 43 and Paul Cummins making (35). Elliott Wilson returned his best Bradford League figures of four for 59 for Congs.

The match between Pudsey St Lawrence and Cleckheaton ended in a no result. Each side had to content themselves with two points plus bonus points because Cleckheaton only had 22 overs to Pudsey St Lawrence's 48.

After a promising start from Mark Robertshaw (40) and Alex Stead (30), St Lawrence stru

ggled, particularly against young off spinner Tom Pringle who took five for 16. Their total of 154 for nine was disappointing given their good start. Cleckheaton replied with 103 for four with Mohammad Zaman making 30.

The game between Bowling old Lane and Saltaire also failed to produce a positive outcome. That was because Old Lane took 47.3 overs to make 131 all out, and their opponents had just 17 overs in reply. Adal Islam, a member of Bradford's White Rose team, took six for 41 as Old Lane crawled along. Wicketkeeper Imran Mirza (27) was the top scorer for Old Lane

Despite scoring at five runs an over, Saltaire were still well below the run rate they required if they were to force an unlikely victory, They finished in 86 for five with Wasim Munawar hitting 34.

The game between Bradford & Bingley and Hanging Heaton was the second match in the top flight to be abandoned without a ball being bowled.

There's just no stopping Division Two leaders Morley. They have five wins from five starts and head the table by 16 points after a nail-biting four run win over Keighley.

Skipper Paul Kinder's gamble on declaring after 33 overs to allow Keighley 34 overs to get 128 for victory was rewarded with another invaluable triumph.

The win was achieved on the fourth ball of the final over when wicketkeeper Micky Cooper collected his third stumping to dismiss Ross Towler off the bowling of Steve Lane.

There seemed little prospect of a Keighley win when they slumped to 37 for six in the face of fine bowling from Kinder (5-28) and James Russell (4-43). However, Robert Hopkinson, promoted from the second team after making a century last week, almost turned the game on its head with a blistering innings of 61 which contained one six and seven fours.

Morley's innings had been dominated once again by the prolific Shoaib Khan. He top scored with 57 and with help from Colin Nuthall (26) ensured that a scored of 127 for six was posted - a better total than seemed likely when Morley slipped to 41 for three in the face of accurate bowling from Ross Towler (2-36) and Greg Kennedy (1-21).

Morley's nearest challengers are now Yeadon who inflicted a second successive defeat on Esholt. They made an impressive 216 for four in 35 overs with Aamer Sajjad hitting 83 and opener Andrew Robertson (75).

Esholt lost wickets steadily when they replied. Ben Platt (48) fought hard to stem the tide but Yeadon weren't to be denied. They bowled out Esholt for 138 with Darren Drake getting four for 33.

Bankfoot notched up their third win of the campaign when they edged out Spen Victoria by three wickets. They looked in deep trouble at 15 for our in reply to Spen's 129 for eight from 28 overs, but veteran Richard Peel saw them home with an unbeaten 41. Nobody tried harder for Spen than Chris Elstub who took six for 63.

Windhill won the basement battle with Lightcliffe to record their first win of the campaign. Their newly-arrived overseas player Aftab Khan made an immediate impression making 59not out and taking four for 60 in a three-wicket win. Skipper Paul Mosey (46) and Andrew Evans (39) were Windhill's other main contributors.

Lightcliffe made 182 for four in 33 overs batting first. Bilal Hussain led the way with 52, while skipper Richard Nichols made 38.

The games between Great Horton and Undercliffe and Gomersal v Hartshead Moor were abandoned without a ball being bowled.
