President Keith Moss Presents the League Trophy to Tim Orrell

Woodlands completed a hat-trick of JCT 600 Bradford League Division One titles when they crushed second-placed East Bierley by six wickets.

They clinched the championship with three games to play and that merely underlined their dominance of this season's competition.

East Bierley became the latest victims of the potent Woodlands bowling attack. They were dismissed for just 88 as the impressive Pieter Swanepoel (4-23) and Safraz Ahmed (4-21) wreaked havoc.

The East Bierley players didn't help their cause as they produced a series of insipid shots which hastened their downfall.

It was ironic that the best partnership of the innings was the last wicket alliance of 21 between top scorer Paul Hutchison (17no) and Greg Lambert.

Hutchison and Lambert looked to be in little trouble until Lambert contrived to throw away his wicket in comical style. He had just hit Tosh Baker for two successive fours when he swung at another ball and missed.

He was so angry with himself that he hit himself on the pads in admonishment. As he did do he walked out of his crease and wicketkeeper Nicky Rushworth saw his chance to throw down the stumps to effect a stumping.

The Woodlands innings also had a bizarre start. Scott Richardson was caught at mid on off the first ball from Jaffer Nazir only to be spared by the call of no ball.

Richardson didn't cash in on his good fortune. He departed soon after for one when he hit a ball from Lambert to Toby Drummond at mid off.

When Sam Frankland was caught and bowled by Jaffer Nazir with just 13 on the board, the alarm bells were ringing in the Woodlands dressing room.

Skipper Tim Orrell was deceived by left arm spinner Luke Jarvis's first ball and was bowled. That left Tosh Baker and former East Bierley stalwart Murphy Walwyn to repair the damage.

They added 49 patiently before Walwyn rejected a quick run and Baker was dismissed for 25. Walwyn went on to finish unbeaten on 27 when Adam Goldthorpe hit the winning runs. Jarvis was the pick of the East Bierley bowlers with one for 23 from nine over.

Pudsey Congs kept alive their hopes of finishing second after picking up a maximum 20 points from their 58-run win over Manningham Mills.

The highlight of their triumph was a splendid innings of 108 not out from the in-form Andrew Bairstow. He hit seven sixes and eight fours as he helped Congs to a total of 237 all out.

Mills were dismissed for 169 with Amjid Hussain (35) and Mohammad Maroof (30) their top scorers. Left-arm spinner Glenn Roberts took four for 28 and paceman Tom Glovr (3-32).

The battle at the bottom is hotting up. Ilde look set to go down with one of Bowling Old Lane Brighouse and Farsley.

Farsley lost a tight game at Bradford & Bingley by two wickets. Wicketkeeper David Syers hit 60 and opener Steve Simpson (42) as Farsley made 188-7. Richard McCarthy was the pick of the Bradford & Bingley bowlers with three for 33.

Skipper Carl Sharp, with a fine innings of 90, and David Clow (43) helped Bradford & Bingley secure a valuable win in the face of some good bowling from Chris Henry (4-57).

Bowling Old Lane were dismissed for just 95 as they slipper to a six-wicket defeat at Baildon, Naeem Ashraf (32) and Shoaib Khan(23) were the only batsmen to make an impression as spinner Mushtaq Ahmed took five for 24 for Baildon. The home side eased home with 36.3 overs to spare.

Brighouse, without injured skipper Mark Gilliver and overseas Rizwan Ahmed, were shot out by Cleckheaton for just 80 with Ian Wardlaw claiming six for 36 .Cleckheaton eased to a five wicket win with Ian Nicholson (19) proving to be their top scorer.

Openers Wasim Munawar (72) and Mahsood Asam Butt (50) shared a stand of 126 which set Saltaire on course for an emphatic 73-run win over Idle. Saltaire made 217 despite the efforts of Javed Umarji (3-36). Idle were dismissed for 144 with Imran Arif (3-44) and Iqbal Khan (3-47) doing the damage,

Hanging Heaton banished any lingering thoughts of being dragged into the relegation zone by defeating Pudsey St Lawrence by one wicket at Tofts Road.

Pudsey St Lawrence compiled 165 with Kasir Maroof making 67, but Hanging Heaton hit back to win. Skipper Alan Mynett made a decisive 39 not out,

Chris Schofield (3-26) and Shafiq Akhtar 3-37) bowl;ed well to restrict the Hanging Heaton run rate.

Yeadon's promotion celebration have had to be put on ice following their 38-run defeat by second-placed Keighley.

Skipper Steve Reape (67) and young Max Davidson (59) steered Keighley to a score of 197-6 which they defended shrewdly.

The Keighley bowlers kept plugging away after an opening stand of 65 between David Leather (58) and James Todd (35) appeared to place Yeadon in control. Reape took three for 28 and Richard Robinson (3-20) and Yeadon were dismissed for 159.

Yeadon's lead at the top has been cut from 29 to 16 points. Keighley have 235 points and are just two ahead of Esholt while Morley are a further six and Gomersal eight points behind.

Everything is set for an absorbing final day to the season next Sunday when Yeadon entertain Lightcliffe, Keighley visit Spen Victoria, Esholt are at home to Morley and Gomersal have to visit Great Horton.

Esholt picked up a maximum 20 points after crushing Spen Victoria by 129 runs. Esholt piled up 287-3 with opener Baz King (99), Shahzaib Khan (61), Shahid Bashir (61no) and Phil Carter (58) piling up the runs.

Spen Victoria were dismissed for 158 despite the efforts of teenagers David Hester (39) and Sean Raven (30). Ben Lister took three for 50 and nadeem Hanif (3-42).

Morley maintained their challenge with a 31-run success against Bankfoot. James Russell took four for 55 and Richard Winn (3-39) as Bankfoot were dismissed for 164 in reply to Morley's 195-9, a score which owed much to the efforts of Micky Cooper (42) and Eddie Galek (32). Andrew Stothard (3-36) and Andrew Deegan (3-50) were the pick of the bowlers.

Gomersal refuse to be ruled out of the promotion picture. Openers Richard Gould (78) and Umar Salim (65) shared a stand of 122 as Gomersal overhauled an Undercliffe total of 232-5 which owed much to a stylish 108 from their skipper Simon Kellett.

There is just no stopping Great Horton's Kashif Naveed. He followed up his 201 against Morley with an impressive 169 as his side beat Windhill by 93 runs. Iqbal Khan (83no) and Talish Butt (76) also figured strongly in the Great Horton innings of 354. Naveed hit two sixes and 26 fours. Windhill were dismissed for 261 with Naveed taking two for 60.

Bottom team Hartshead Moor finally had something to cheer as they defeated Lightcliffe ny six wickets. Trent Otto took four for 15 as Lightcliffe were dismissed for 170, then Adnan Raees struck an unbeaten 89 to steer his side home.
