East Bierley added the JCT 600 Second Teams Division One championship to the Sovereign Health Care Priestley Shield they won six days earlier when they defeated Farsley by 52 runs.

East Bierley's hopes of winning the title looked to be dimming when they slipped to 83-5, but such is the character of their side they they managed to recover to make 258-7. Leigh Abbott led the revival with an aggressive 66, while skipper Matthew Anderson (41) and Paul Ellis (42no) also contributed valuable runs.

Farsley made 206-6 in reply with Steven Cockshott hitting 47, Ben Tempest (37no) and Joe Greaves (35), but they never threatened the East Bierley total.

East Bierley picked up 18 points and that was sufficient to see them finish three ahead of Lightcliffe who earned similar reward for their 68-run victory over last year's champions Woodlands.

Alex Tait took seven for 47 as Lightcliffe dismissed their opponents for 117. Robert Medcalf was top scorer for Woodlands with 52. Lightcliffe were bowled out for 185 batting first with Gareth Stephens making 55 and Roger Stead (42). At the other end of the table Gomersal and Saltaire will be relegated. Gomersal made a brave bid to save themselves from dropping into Division Two with a four-wicket win over third-placed Hanging Heaton. It earned them 18 points but they still finished an agonising three points adrift of Farsley.

Matthew Hirst took six for 47 as Hanging Heaton - despite 56 from dave Lawrence and 50 from James Byrne - were dismissed for 179. Gomersal eased to their eighth win of the season with Simon Halls (53no), Usman Salim (43) and Jonathan Boynton (34) making crucial contributions.

Saltaire were sentenced to a quick return to Division Two when they suffered a 60-run defeat against Keighley which left them bottom of the table.

Tim Burnley (43) and Paul Wilkinson (39) helped Keighley make 164 before dismissing Saltaire for 104. Left arm opening bowler Al;ex Towler took three for 19.

Just like their first team, Bowling Old Lane left it to the last day of the season to avoid the drop. They extended their top flight tenure with a 39-run win over Baildon. Seamers Talat Sajawal (4-47) and Kamran Siddique (4-19) bowled out Baildon for 98. Old Lane had made 137 batting first with skipper Haqueq Siddique top scoring with 29.

Fourth-placed Yeadon picked up maximum points for their 37-run win over Pudsey Congs. Yeadon rattled up 234-9 before bowling out Congs for 197. Andrew Pickering (59no), Darren Machell (39) and Paul Machell (34no) were their main scorers against a bowling attack in which Ben Burkill (4-59) and Simon Raistrick (3-35) were the most successful members. Paul Machell (4-26) and John Carey (3-40) were the pick of the Yeadon bowlers in a Congs innings in which Burkill made 40, skipper Michael Oldfield (33) and Richard Jubb (32).

Anthony Yelding (5-45) and Craig Trapps (5-73) bowled Pudsey St Lawrence to a 76-run win over Esholt. The visitors were dismissed for 122 in reply to a score of 198 of which Cameron Roy made 54.
