Sumner takes five wickets but the weather is the winner

Play was possible in only four JCT 600 Bradford League Second team matches - three in Division One and one in Division Two - on a day when the wet weather was the only winner.

Evewy game ended up being abandoned but at least there was 36 overs of play in the clash between Division One's bottom two Gomersal and Pudsey St Lawrence.

In that time the Saints reached 154-6 to claim two batting points, while Gomersal earned three bowling points.

Mark Stringer (45) and Niall Coleman (40no) were the top scorers for St Lawrence as Gomersal bowler Alan Sumner picked up five for 59 - the day's best bowling figures.

Farsley, hovering dangerously just above the relgation positions, were in trouble at 18-3 against Woodlands after 11 overs when their match was abandoned. Joel Metcalfe took all three wickets to fall at a personal cost of nine runs.

Just two over were possible at Bowling Old Lane where visitors Saltaire made two without loss befor the weather intervened.

The only match where play was possible in Division Two was at Morley where the home side had reduced Brighosue to 37-5 in 17 overs before the match was rained off. Twelve-year-old James McNicholl markd his senior debut by taking two for 12.
