Yeadon continued their remarkable climb up the JCT 600 Bradford League Second Teams Division One table when they defeated Hanging Heaton by 20 runs in a low-scoring encounter to move into second place.
Hopes of an eighth win of the season looked slim when Yeadon were dismissed for just 79 as Umar Rehman took six for four. Jon Carey top scored with 34 and followed up by taking four for 19 as Hanging Heaton were skittled for 59. Richard Wood picked up three for 19 as Yeadon leap-frogged Hanging Heaton in the table.
Leaders Lightcliffe have a 37 point lead over yeadon. They defeated Pudsey Congs by 77 runs with Roger Stead taking four for 12 in 15 overs as Congs were restricted to 128-8 in reply to Lightcliffe's score of 205-7. Ben Burkill hit an unbeaten 48 for Congs while Richard Jameson (41), James Shaw (39) and Bruce Lunn (38) were Lightcliffe's main contributors.
East Bierley returned to winning ways with a 61-run win over Baildon. Dan Abbott took five for 38 as east Bierley dismissed Baildon for 100 in reply to their score of 161. Opener Arron Brook top scored with 49 for East Bierley.
Bowling Old Lane added to the relegation worried of champions Woodlands as they scored a seven- wicket win. Woodlands were dismissed for 109 as Amjid Khan took seven for 37, and Old Lane eased to their target with Rashid Ramzan hitting 68.
Bottom team Gomersal beat Esholt by six wickets to move level on points with Woodlands. Matthew Wilby (58no) and Andrew Gorrad (50no) shared an unbeaten fifth-wicket stand of 91 to steer their side to victory. Opener Steve Pollard also played a key part in the run chase by making 62.
Esholt's innings of 191 had been dominated by a fine knock of 112 by opener Jason Wilkinson. He hit four sixes and 14 fours while Chris Rhodes was the best Gomersal bowler with five for 49.
Alex Towler took seven for 25 as Keighley bowled out Pudsey St Lawrence for 87 to secure a 83-run win. Alan Broadley top scored with 36 for Keighley as they were bowled out for 170. Wasim Rafiq took four for 61 and Adam Hopkins (3-22).
Fifth-placed Saltaire proved too good for fast-fading Farsley. Saltaire made 209-7 with Jack Holland making 84 and Nadeem Mohammed (43). Farsley were dismissed for 124 as Gunishira Ambepetiya took four for 23.
Teenage opener Marcus Walmsley made a fine 114 as Division two leaders Cleckheaton stretched their lead to 15 points with a 47-run success against Hartshead Moor. Chris Dobson (44) helped swell the Cleckheaton score to 245-7. Hartshead Moor replied with a spirited 198-9 with Phil Gooder making 54 and Andrew Halford (37).
Second -placed Manningham Mills dismissed Brighouse for 56 to seal a 68-run win. Syed Ahmed took six for 18. Mills had earlier been bowled out for 124 with Martin Hanson claiming four for 15.
Great Horton are eight points adrift of Mills after an 88-run triumph over Bankfoot. Ijaz Ahmed was their match-winner taking six for 36 as Bankfoot were bowled out for 83. Great Horton had earlier made 171 with opener Mohammad Daud hitting 34.
The day's best bowling figures belonged to Spen Victoria's John Ireland. He took eight for 50 as his side defeated Undercliffe by ten runs in a low-scoring encounter. Amir Ditta (34) top scored as Undercliffe were dismissed for 84 in reply to Spen's score of 94. Pratik Bhakta (4-22) was the best of the Undercliffe bowlers.
There was a thrilling finish at Idle where the home side lost by one wicket to Bradford & Bingley. Adam Swallow was the outstanding performer for Bradford & Bingley. He took four for 23 as Idle were dismissed for 146 and hit 41 to steer his side home.
Eddie Ream (5-25) and Michael Davies (4-13) bowled Morley to an 89-run win over Windhill. The visitors were dismissed for just 44 when they replied to Morley's total of 133. |
