Lightcliffe have opened up a 34-point lead at the top of the JCT 600 Bradford League Second Teams Division one table.

They cashed in on closest rivals Farsley having their game abandoned at bottom team Gomersal by defeating Hanging heaton by 17 runs.

Once again the evergreen Roger Stead played a key role. His side were in deep trouble at 79-7 when he arrived at the wicket and transformed their fortunes with a fine knock of 50 which enabled them to post a score of 152 despite some good bowling from Umar Rehman (4-43).

Hanging Heaton's hopes of victory were good while Michael Smith (57) was at the wicket, but once he was removed by Sam Godden (3-37), the innings quickly folded. Hanging Heaton were dismissed for 135 with Richard Tesseyman finishing with four for 36. Despite their defeat Hanging Heaton moved up to third place because East Bierley, Esholt and Saltaire all had their games abandoned.

There were four games where a ball wasn't bowled, East Bierley v Woodlands, Baildon v Pudsey Congs, Esholt v Saltaire and Gomersal v Farsley.

Yeadon continued their climb away from trouble with a 43-run win over Keighley in a 25 overs a side contest. Yeadon made 149-3 thanks largely to an unbeaten 87 from Darren machell. Keighley were restricted to 106-9 in reply with Andy Waggett top scoring with 45.

Bowling Old Lane halted their recent slide with a five-wicket win at Pudsey St Lawrence. The home side were dismissed for just 92 as Talat Sajawal claimed five for 62 and Haseeb Younis (3-24). Openers Saeed Afsar (46) and Haqueq Siddique (34) put their side on the road to their fifth win in ten games.

The after effects of the week's rain halved the Division Two programme with no play possible in the games between Brighouse and Cleckheaton, Idle v Spen Victoria and Morley v Bankfoot.

The most significant action was at Scothman Road where leaders Manningham Mills collected 19 points from a 135-run win over bottom team Hartshead Moor. Mills made 209 all out with openers Mohammad Faisal (53) and Waqar Rafiq (49) leading the way. Danny Barlow (4-42) was again the best Hartshead Moor bowler. Waheed Khan took five for seven as Hartshead Moor were skittle out for 74 in reply.

Veteran Andy Wilsdon exerted a powerful all-round influence on his side's 52-run win over Bradford & Bingley. Wilsdon made 32 with the bat and gave good support to Liam Brearley (52) and Ziarat Hussain (46) as a score of 183-7 was reached. Wilson followed up by taking five for 16 as Bradford & bingley - despite a fine 78 from Craig Cockshott, were bowled out for 131.

Great Horton have moved into fourth position after a 46-run win over Windhill. Numan Ahsan made 50 and Mohan Mistry (43) as they compiled a total of 204-9 despite good bowling from Phil Drake (6-77). Windhill were dismissed for 158 as Jamil Akhtar took four for 29
