Things are getting tight in the JCT 600 Bradford League Second Teams Division One where a mere 16 points separates second-placed East Bierley and 11th placed Bowling Old Lane.
But Lightcliffe remain 33 points clear at the top despite suffering 59-run defeat at Pudsey St Lawrence. The inconsistent Saints recovered from 17-4 to make 219 with Niall Coleman making an unbeaten 73 and Wasim Rafiq (46). Sam Godden was the best Lightcliffe bowler with four for 39.
Lightcliffe were dismissed for 160 and the main contribution to their total came from a generous donation of 44 extra. James Shaw (31) was their next top scorer as Craigg Traps (4-44) sent them sliding to defeat.
St Lawrence moved up to fourth as a result of their win while East Bierley seized their opportunity to go second by defeating bottom team Gomersal by four runs. James Petty made 50 as east Bierley were dismissed for 131 by Simon Halls (4-25), Joe Loughran (3-31) and Ryan Kitson (3-39). Gomersal faltered in reply and despite 44 from Jonathan Boynton they were dismissed for 127. Chris Brook (3-28) and skipper Matthew Anderson (3-21) were the pick of the East Bierley bowlers.
Hanging heaton are level on points with East Bierley after defeating Farsley by four wickets. Farsley, the early pacesetters in the division, have now dropped to fifth place. Farsley were bowled out for 123 as Mick Horner (4-32) and Umar Rehman (4-42) struck. Hanging heaton slipped to 46-5 in reply before James Byrne hit 42 not out to steer them home.
Pudsey Congs had skipper Michael Oldfield to thank for their 29-run win over champions Woodlands .Oldfield had an outstanding game for Congs hitting 49 in his side's total of 151 and taking six for 15 as Woodlands were dismissed for 122. Richard Godfrey (57no) and Phil Walker (47) fought hard but couldn't spare their side from a defeat which puts them back in the relegation positions.
In contrast, Baildon climbed out of the bottom two with a six-wicket win over esholt. Jamie Abbott took four for 29 as esholt were dismissed for 119. Darren Wilson (37no) and Mohammad Nawaz (33) guided their side to a much-needed win.
Ashley Robinson (5-41) and Jake Hoyle (4-6) set up Keighley's six-wicket win over Bowling Old Lane. Thanks to their Bowling Old Lane were dismissed for 98, a total Keighley overhauled easily with Nicholas Robinson taking 34 not out.
Yeadon continued their climb to safety with a second win of the weekend. They beat Saltaire by 100 runs with Jon Carey claiming seven for 23 as Saltaire were skittled out for 53. Kevin Gilks (37) and Darren Machell (35) had helped Yeadon make 153-6 in their innings.
