EAST BIERLEY SOAR TO THE TOP
Posted: May 7, 2007
Idle came back from their trip to South View Road with seven points after a disappointing six-wicket defeat against high-flying East Bierley .
Idle batted first totaling 233 with excellent contributions from Paul Cummins (58) and new boy Neil Nicholson ( making a run a ball 66 ) on his old stomping ground.
In reply East Bierley got off to a strong start with a quick fire 69 opening partnership between Gharib Razak and ex-Derbyshire keeper Lee Goddard and then Idle never really got back in the game despite skipper Steve Thompson ringing the changes in the bowling attack searching for valuable break throughs.
The game was seen out to a conclusion by the impressive Andrew Rennison with 73 not out and other contributions from Gavin Hamilton (29) and Tom Owens (32 not out).
