Last-minute replacement Usman Munir of Saltaire was the hero as the JCT 600 Bradford League won a bowl out to clinch their place in the second round of the White Rose Tropy today.
Rain ruled out play again in their re-arranged first round tie against the Huddersfield Central League at Thurstonland so the umpires ordered a bowl out to decide the outcome.
Each side nominated five bowlers and it was the home side who struck first to take a 1-0 lead. Scott Etherington of Bradford & Bingley levelled and with the score at 1-1 after both teams had completed their five deliveries, the match went to sudden death.
With the first extra delivery Munir struck and when the Huddersfield Central League missed Bradford were guaranteed a second round away tie against the winners of the match between South Yorkshire and Halifax.
Munir, who was only drafted into the side at 10.30am when Cleckheaton's Craig Wiseman withdrew through injury, is becoming a bowl out specialist.
Two weeks ago he was the only player to hit the stumps as Saltaire's second team defeated Holmfirth 1-0 in a bowl out in the Crowther Cup.
