Posted: August 12, 2007

Holders East Bierley reached their fourth successive Sovereign Health Care Priestley Shield final when they defeated Yeadon by 78 runs.

The victory avenged their 2005 final defeat by Yeadon and came just 254 hours after they had suffered a league defeat against the same opponents.

East Bierley had John Davis (57) and Gareth Davis (36) to thank for helping them to a total of 181 as Jonathan Carey took four for 27 and Paul Machell (3-33).

Yeadon's batting crumbles against the bowling of Paul Ellis (3-16), Chris Brook (3-18) and Dan Abbott (3-21). Only opener Andrew Pickering (27) made an impression as they were dismissed for 103.

East Bierley will face Woodlands in the final on September 9. Opener Cieran Garner (73), Harry Smallwood (42no) and Keith Robson (31) helped them to a total of 250-6.

Undercliffe, who had knocked out Hanging Heaton in the last round, found the going tough and were dismissed for 118. Simon Medd top scored with 23 as Harry Smallwood claimed three for 45.
