The Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup final will go ahead as planned on Sunday with an 11am start.

Members of the JCT 600 Bradford League Management Board met with officials of Pudsey Congs and Woodlands and the host club Bradford & Bingley at Wagon Lane yesterday.

The ground had been under water on Tuesday but all parties are determined for the game to go ahead.

If play isn't completed on Sunday the match will continue on Saturday, September 20 with an 11am start.

JCT 600 Bradford League treasurer David Young was among the board officials who attended the meeting.

He said: "The clubs were adamant that they want to make every effort to play the game on Sunday."

The meeting was arranged after Young had inspected the ground on Tuesday. There were ducks and swans floating in the pools of water that had formed on the surrounds of the ground.

"The transformation in 24 hours was staggering. I feared for the final when I saw the ducks and swans swimming on Tuesday.

"The clubs appreciated the opportunity to visit Wagon Lane and discuss the arrangements for the final.

"There is a wet area on the scoreboard side of the ground which will need roping off and will reduce the size of the boundary, but the clubs are happy about that. They want to get the game on and would love to make it a spectacle."
