Pudsey St Lawrence are setting a hot pace at the top of Division One after a crushing 139-run win over last season's beaten Sovereign Health Care Priestley Shield finalists Cleckheaton,
St Lawrence have taken a maximum 40 points from their first two games and look as if they are going to be formidable challengers to East Bierley who are chasing a third-successive title.
Teenage batsmen David Hester (84) and Chris Sharkey (40no) played key roles in their team's success. Their runs, plus 40 from evergreen Chris Hester took St Lawrence to a total of 258-6. Cleckheaton were dismissed for 129 in reply young as spinner Adam Hopkins (4-26) and Chris Hester (4-27) wreaked havoc.
Yeadon are second in the table two points adrift of the leaders. They made 195-8 thanks to the efforts of Paul Machell (67) and Nick Darfield (37no). Farsley were dismissed for 176 as Stephen Gilks (5-52 posed problems. Joe Greaves (66), was the pick of the Farsley batsmen.
Baildon maintained their 100 per cent start - but only just - as they defeated Hanging Heaton by one run. Ross Todd blasted a rapid 61 not out off 39 balls as Baildon made 197-7. Off spinner Umar Rehman (3-36) was the most successful bowler. Howard Ellis (70) and Chris Goodaire (42) gave Hanging Heaton a great chance of snatching the win but Brett Kinsey (3-45) denied them.
Newly-promoted Morley had two of their youngest players to thank for their dramatic one-wicket win over Pudsey Congs. Fourteen year olds Jack Seddon (52) and James McNicholl (50) spearheaded the successful run chase. Liam Stanhope (4-34) bowled well for Congs who had earlier made 213-6 with Steve Gunner hitting 70 and Phil Allinson (63). Morley's best bowler was skipper Andy Cutt (4-44)
Opener Cieran Garner maintained his good early season form with 78 as Woodlands defeated Keighley by 46 runs. Adam Wood (55) and Greig Godfrey (55no) also made half-centuries in an impressive Woodlands total of 254-5. Keighley were restricted to 208-8 in reply with Ashley Robinson (50) and Paul Wilkinson 945) the top scorers.
Newly-promoted Undercliffe suffered a second-successive defeat despite new recruit Jamie Thrush making 107 in a total of 231-7. Andy Wilsdon made 47. Old Lane eased to victory with two overs to spare as Riffaqat Ali (76no) and Mushtaq Bodiat (47) took charge.
Division 2
Hartshead Moor are the pacesetters following their 134-run win over Bankfoot which earned them a maximum 20 points.
Nick Ward hit 85 and Liam Evans (47) as Hartshead Moor made 259-7 despite the efforts of Miles Robinson (4-40). Bankfoot were dismissed for 125.
Last season's relegated teams, Lightcliffe and Spen Victoria, are hot on their hills after recording their second wins of the campaign.
Teenage batsman Sean Raven his his maiden Bradford League century as Spen Victoria defeated Manningham Mills by 17 runs. Raven scored 101 and helped his side to a haul of 19 points. Derek Warriner (34) and Tom Sharp (30) helped Spen to make a total of 207-6 before bowling out Manningham Mills for 190. Mohammad Faisal (53) and Asif Amir (52) top scored for Mills while Robert Warriner (4-50) was the pick of the bowlers.
Lightcliffe inflicted a second successive defeat on a Bradford & Bingley side tipped in the close season as favourites for promotion. Amir Yaqub hit 56 as Lightcliffe were dismissed for 164. Bradford & Bingley , despite 34 from Warren Allitt, were bowled out for 139as Steve Hartley took five for 41.
Gomersal's Zabir Hussain hit an unbeaten 129 as Gomersal secured a five-wicket win over Great Horton in a high-scoring encounter. Paul Huddlestone (42) also made an important contribution as Gomersal overhauled a Great Horton score of 253 all out which owed much to the efforts of Zabair Ashraf (124) and Sajad Khan (55). Skipper Chris Rhodes took six for 32 for Gomersal.
Brighouse were celebrating their first win after wicketkeeper Chris Curtis made 68 to steer them to a five-wicket triumph over Saltaire. Amarpaul Sorai top scored with 53 as Saltaire were dismissed for 166 with Mark Jeffery taking five for 33.
Young batsmen Joe Ollerenshaw (74) and Jack Holland (50) helped Windhill to defeat Idle by six wickets. Windhill passed Idle's score of 182-8 with 14.1 overs to spare. Idle's top scorers were Chris Ison (51) and Steve Bishop (31).
