He is liaising with a working party from the league which includes Chief Executive Bob Shackleton, Life Member John France, Media and Marketing Officer Alan Birkinshaw, and Saltaire official Reg Nelson.

They are now busily seeking items of interest for the exhibition which aims to focus on some of the great names who have played in the league from Sir Jack Hobbs to Sir Leonard Hutton to current day stars such as Matthew Hoggard.

The working party is currently seeking items of interest from clubs and individuals for the exhibition.

All of the league's major trophies will feature along with historic scorebooks relating to matches featuring such greats as Sydney Barnes and Sir Jack Hobbs.

The impact of overseas player and the influence of Asian players will be reflected in a display which will also include pictures of past and present.

All clubs are being asked to make items available for the exhibition. It is planned to hold an evening at the Industrial Museum early in the new year so that clubs can see how their items will be displayed and cared for.

The exhibition organisers have also been in discussions with officials of the Lord's Cricket Museum for the loan of items relating to Sir Leonard Hutton and other great Bradford League players.

Chief Executive Bob Shackleton said: "This is a great opportunity to showcase the league and its history, but we do need the help of clubs or individuals who might have items of interest.

"We can assure them that these items will be valued and carefully looked after. If anybody can help I would ask them to contact me as soon as possible."

Bob Shackleton can be contacted by email at ceo@bradfordcricketleague.org or by telephone on 01274 676604.
