Holders Wrenthorpe will face Baildon in this year's Solly Sports Heavy Woollen Cup final at Liversedge on August 2.

Wrenthorpe, who are bidding to win the famous trophy for a third successive year, beat JCT 600 Bradford League champions Woodlands by six wickets, and Baildon defeated Barnsley - last year's beaten finalists by the same margin.

Skipper Ian Philliskirk made sure that Baildon avenged their 2006 Heavy Woollen Cup final defeat by Barnsley.

Philliskirk made 87 not out as Baildon chased down a Barnsley score of 149 all out. Philliskirk hit two sixes and ten fours as he took charge after his side had slumped to 31-3.

He was joined in a fourth-wicket stand of 56 by Jonny Reynolds (22) and then shared an unbroken partnership of 63 with Simon Webb (17no) as victory was achieved with 10.4 overs to spare.

Barnsley's recovered from the early loss of opener Ben O'Brien as Simon Widdup (33) and Alex Morris (32) took charge, but the introduction of spinners Mushtaq Ahmed (3-27) and Harry Smallwood (2-27) turned the game decisively. Barnsley plunged to 93-7.

Greig Batty (25) and Matthew Wilson (17) shared an eight wicket stand of 50, but once they were parted the end came quickly.

Overseas player Tonito Willet made 77 not and shared in a fourth-wicket stand of 140 with Yorkshire and England star Craig White who made 65. as Wrenthorpe defeated Woodlands.

Willet struck 12 fours while White stroked one six and eight fours as Wrenthorpe overhauled a Woodlands score of 179 all out.

Wrenthorpe secured their win with 5.1 overs to spare and made Woodlands pay for not batting out their over. The hosts were bowled out in 46.1 overs. Pieter Swanepoel (39) and Chris Brice (37) were the only batsmen to look at ease against a bowling attack in which Tom Glover - the former Pudsey Congs bowler - impressed taking three for 35.

Woodlands anguish at losing was eased when their second team scored a thrilling three wicket win at Hanging Heaton to clinch a place in the Crowther Cup final.

Skipper Phil Walker (51) and Stephen Pearson (46no) spearheaded Woodlands successful pursuit of Hanging Heaton's total of 238-8. Chris Goodair (54no), Umar rehman (48), Andrew Nettleton (35no) and Nafeez Hafeez (34) were the main contributors for Hanging Heaton while Greig Godfrey (4-37) was the most successful Woodlands bowler.

Woodlands will play holders Barnsley in the final at Hanging Heaton on Monday, August 31.

Barnsley defeated Townville by three wickets. Andy Whitaker (57) and Tom Wakefield (46no) steered Barnsley past the Townville score of 169 all out. Jack Hughes top scored for Townville with 59.

Barnsley, who also won the trophy in 2005 and 2006, will be striving to avenge the defeat Woodlands inflicted on them in a first round bowl out in 2007.
