Baildon and Woodlands both won close encounters to reach the last four of the Solly Sports Heavy Woollen Cup where the draw for the semi-finals has kept them apart.

Woodlands will be at home to holders Wrenthorpe on Sunday, July 5, while Baildon have to travel to South Yorkshire to play last season's beaten finalists Barnsley.

Woodlands had Sam Frankland to thank for their three-run success against Huddersfield League side Barkisland.

He top scored with 50 as the league champions were dismissed for 151 and then followed up by taking seven for 41 with his medium pace as Barkisland were bowled out for 148.

Baildon edged home by six runs against another Huddersfield League side Shepley. Spinners Mushtaq Ahmed (4-21) and Harry Smallwood (4-29) dismissed Shepley for 175 in reply to Baildon's 181 which owed a great deal to Ahsan Butt's 58.

Woodlands and Baildon now find themselves in a powerful last four which also includes last season's two finalist Wrenthorpe and Barnsley. Barnsley beat Shelley by nine wickets while Wrenthorpe defeated Methley by 80 runs.

There were also close finishes in the Crowther Cup as Woodlands and Hangin Heaton set up a semi-final clash against each other at Bennett Lane.

Woodlands seconds were inolved in an even tighter encounter than their first team. They made 183-9 with Phil Higgins 37 and Scott Richardson (32) leading the way despite the efforts of David Brown (4-30). Methley were dismissed for 181 in reply with Tom Smallwood taking three for 22.

Umar Rehman took a hat-trick as Hanging Heaton beat Birstall by ten runs. Rehman's triple strike halted Birstall's bid to overhaul Hanging Heaton's score of 241. Adam Holroyd (50) and Rob Ellis (42) were Birstall's top scorers. Hanging Heaton's innings was dominated by David Lawrence who made 82.

In the other semi-final Townville host holders Barnsley.
