Cleckheaton's Ian Nicholson won't forget the launch night of the Dyson Insulations Cup Twenty/20 Cup competition in a hurry.
Nicholson blasted an unbeaten 101 and followed up with three wickets for two runs as his side romped to an emphatic 161-run win over Brighouse in Group Four.
Ian and his dad Neil (60) guided Cleckheaton to the competition's highest score of 269-3 before bowling out Brighouse for 108,
The night's most exciting finish was at Roberts Park in Group Two where a six off the penultimate ball from 17-year-old Joe Hicks earned Saltaire a four-wicket win over Baildon.
Usman Arshad (44) and Tom Slater (41) led the successful pursuit of Baildon's score of 172-4 and Hicks finished it off with an unbeaten 16.
Matthew Webb hit a fine 84 for Baildon and was well supported by Mohammad Abbas (27) and Harry Smallwood (24no).
In the same group, Bradford & Bingley proved too good for Keighley as they triumphed by six wickets in a match reduced to 16 overs a side. Batting first, Keighley were restricted to 83-5. Australian Jake Best top scored with 40.
Bradford & Bingley knocked off the runs with Matthew Duce making 33 and Chris Thompson an unbeaten 24.
Lorenzo Inghram announced his arrival at Farsley by smashing an unbeaten 75 as they romped to an eight-wicket win over Pudsey Congs at Red Lane. After Congs had been restricted to 103-9, Inghram took charge and powered his side to victory in 12.1 overs.
Pudsey St Lawrence skipper James Smith opened the batting and made an unbeaten 51 in his side's convincing eight-wicket win over Manningham Mills. He shared an opening stand of 85 with Alex Stead (41) as St Lawrence passed Manningham Mills' score of 131-6 in 15.5 overs. Fawad Maqsood top scored with 36 while Owais Ijaz hit an unbeaten 33 for Mills.
Bankfoot and Hanging Heaton made winning starts in Group Three. Bankfoot continued their good early season form by making 177 all out as they defeat Spen Victoria by 45 runs. South African Greg Fotheringham (40) and former Spen player John Barton (40) were their main contributors while spinner Mohammad Maroof (3-39) was Spen's most successful bowler.
Spen made a spirtied reply with James Baker hitting four sixes and four fours in a powerful 66 as they were dismissed for 132. Spinners Andrew Deegan (3-23) and Edward Walmsley (3-25) were the chief wicket takers.
Hanging Heaton's young side sprang a surprise by defeating Gomersal by six wickets at Oxford Road. Gomersal appeared to be heading for a big score as they made a flying start, but once skipper Richard Whitehurst was dismissed for 50, they subsided to 141-8. Hanging Heaton knocked off the runs with more than two overs to spare, Haroon Rashid led the way with an unbeaten 59.
