Division One

Bradford & Bingley's veteran opening bowler Richard McCarthy took seven for six as his side skittled out title hopefuls East Bierley for just 33.

McCarthy exploited the helpful conditions to the full and East Bierley - without Division One's leading runscorer Gavin Hamilton who was playing for Scotland - found him unplayable.

McCarthy's analysis of 11-8-6-7 underlined the quality of his bowling and took his career haul of Bradford League wickets to 996.

But now he faces a two-week wait before he can try to become the 16th player to reach the 1,000 mark. Bradford & Bingley's next match isn't to August 14 when they visit Saltaire.

McCarthy was backed up by James Davies (3-21) as East Bierley - who didn't lose a wicket beating Pudsey St Lawrence and Undercliffe last weekend - had an afternoon to forget. Their top scorer was opener Gharib Razak with seven.

Bradford & Bingley took just five overs to knock off the runs with opener Simon Davies (17no) becoming the only player in the match to make double figures.

Another bowler to take seven wickets was the aptly named Gary Severn of Pudsey St Lawrence. He returned the impressive analysis of 15-5-35-7 as last year's champions Baildon were bowled out for 143.

They were in deep trouble at 84-7 until young batsman Harry Smallwood gave them a boost with an innings of 40. Pudsey St Lawrence lost two early wickets in reply, but skipper James Smith (69) and Gareth Clough (39no) ensured that their side secured a comfortable seven-wicket win.

A third bowler to take seven wickets was Woodlands' left-arm spinner Chris Brice. The division's leading wicket-taker picked up 7-37 as Woodlands defeated Yeadon by 42 runs to go top of the table, They have the same points as St Lawrence but have won a game more.

A victory seemed unlikely when Woodlands slumped to 30-6, but the experience Nicky Rushworth, batting at number nine, made an undefeated 50 and received good support first from Usman Salim (32) and then from Sarfraz Ahmed (25). Andrew Robertson (4-41), Mahmood Rasool (3-35) were Yeadon's best bowlers,

Yeadon, who are fighting to avoid relegation, never looked like matching the Woodlands score of 160-9 once Brice started to weave his magic. Only Damon Gormley with a battling 49 looked at ease.

Pudsey Congs are now fourth in the table after a 93-run over a fading Undercliffe. They were indebted to Adam Patel as they recovered from 33-3 to make 209-6. Patel made an unbeaten 108 which contained five sixes and nine fours. He gained good support from Andrew Bairstow (44) and skipper Glenn Roberts (33).

Undercliffe, who have now lost six successive matches, were dismissed for 116, with only left-hander Farakh Hussain (42) making an impression. Roberts was Congs' most successful bowler with three for 20.

The day's second century maker was Bankfoot's Andrew Duckworth. The opener made an unbeaten 117 which helped his team secure their first win of the season against fellow relegation candidates Saltaire.

Saltaire's lack of confidence with the bat surfaced again as they were dismissed for 126 to give Bankfoot a 56-run triumph. Left-arm spinner Deegan (6-26) bowled well while Mohammed (43) was Saltaire's top scorer,

Skipper Richard Whitehurst cracked an unbeaten 55 as Gomersal recovered from 19-4 to overhaul a Farsley score of 151 all out. Whitehurst hit three sixes and seven fours and received good support for overseas player Shahzaib Khan (32) as Gomedrsal won by four wickets.

Khan had earlier taken 4-30 as Farsley slumped to 90-8 before being rescued by a resolute innings from Tom Slater (43) as they reached 151 all out.

Division Two

Lightcliffe's Chris Taylor became the first batsman to reach 1,000 league runs this season as he made his fifth league century in his side's 31-run win over Morley.

The former Yorkshire and Derbyshire player made exactly 100 to take his tally of runs to 1,002.

Despite taking a maximum 20 points, Lightcliffe remain 36 adrift of leaders Hanging Heaton who had a 106-run win over Idle,

Hanging Heaton made 211 despite the efforts of Saeed Zaidi (5-79). Mark Innwood was the top scorer with 33. Idle had no answer to the leg spin of Mark Lawson (6-24) and were dismissed for 105.

Bowling Old Lane made the day's biggest score. They reached 269-5 against Brighouse with Sri Lankan Mapa Bandara hitting an unbeaten 86. Raqeeb Younis (58) and skipper Amjid Khan (57). The most successful bowler was Kamran Khan (4-68).

Brighouse were dismissed for 162, but only after a entertaining last-wicket stand of 85 between Chris Dyer (50no) and Kamran Khan (22). Zubair Najeeb (3-28) and Amjid Khan (3-34) were Old Lane's key bowlers.

Keighley's batsmen compiled a total of 238-5 against Windhill. with Simon Bailey (76), Max Davidson (72no) and Imran Patel (37) leading the way.

Windhill made a bold bid to try and snatch the game from Keighley's grasp but finished on 229-9. Ahsan Butt (62) and Fahid Rehman (45) again caught the eye.

There was drama at Manningham Mills where the match with Spen Victoria was tied.

Spen were indebted to their teenage batsman Sean Raven for steering them to 200-8. Raven made an unbeaten 73.

Mills looked to be heading for victory while Iqbal Khan (64) and Gulsheraz Ahmed (41) were at the wicket, but Spen kept plugging away with Dan Abbott taking 4-50. With the scores level and 7.5 overs left, Mills' last man Abdul Jabbar was run out.

Great Horton hauled themselves off the bottom of the table when they defeated Hartshead Moor by one wicket to record their first win.

Basit Khan had a fine match for Great Horton. He took 4-39 as Hartshead Moor were restricted to 162-9 and hit 65 as Great Horton edged home. Khalil Rehman (30) gave him support and ensured that Joel Pollard (3-26) and Tom Manvell (3-53) didn't snatch the game from their grasp.

Hartshead Moor's total of 162-9 owed much to the spirited efforts of Simon North (54no) and Craig Field (31).
