Lightcliffe opener Chris Taylor underlined just why he is one of the most prolific batsmen in the JCT 600 Bradford League with a stunning innings of 153 not out in his side's 68-run win at Keighley.

The former Yorkshire player followed up his unbeaten 121 in the league win over Spen Victoria 24 hours earlier, with an even more impressive display.

Best bowling performance 5-21
Greg Wood (East Bierley)

He stroked a six and 20 fours as he guided his side to a daunting 267-2 on a fine Keighley wicket. On the way he shared in a 111-run opening stand with Josh Wheatley (44) and a second-wicket alliance of 141 with skipper Jonathan Wilson (52)

Keighley never threatened to overhaul the Lightcliffe total but replied with 199-6. Opener Matthew Bottomley was again in the runs with 70, while skipper Steve Reape (43no) and Ross Towler (34no) provided a late flourish to the innings.

Woodlands opener Sam Frankland was another century maker. He hit an unbeaten 111 as his side made 255-4 before bowling out Yeadon for 206.

Frankland punctuated his innings with seven sixes and seven fours. He also shared in an opening partnership of 124 with Scott Richardson (52). Mahmood Rasool (3-58) was the pick of the bowlers and his victims included former Yeadon batsman Dan Shuffe - last year's winner of the JCT Bradford League Division One batting averages - for a duck.

Yeadon never got to grips with the required run rate as left-arm spinner Chris Brice (4-31) and Sarfraz Ahmed (3-23) kept things in check. James Goldthorp (48) and Kassir Maroof (39) were the pick of the Yeadon batsmen.

Farsley toppled champions Baildon for the second successive season. Last year's beaten finalists won on a bowl out last time, but on this occasion they triumphed by three wickets.

The victory was set up by their seam bowlers. Ryan Lumb took four for 42 and Robert Thotnton (3-27) as Baildon were dismissed for 154. Simon Webb (36) was the top scorer.

Farsley had a couple of nervy moments but reached their target thanks to the determined efforts of David Syers (36) and Steve Simpson (31). Adil Islam bowled well for Baildon and returned figures of four for 43, while Andy Walker took three for 48.

Holders East Bierley had little trouble clinching their place in Thursday's second-round draw. They skittled out Division Two side Morley for just 89 as they romped to an eight-wicket win. The surprise destroyer of Morley was wicketkeeper/batsman Greg Wood. He clearly enjoyed being given a bowl as he took five for 21.

Scotland captain Gavin Hamilton hit 49 as East Bierley sped to their victory target.

Morley's total wasn't the lowest of the day. That dubious distinction went to Idle who were skittled for 61 by Gomersal. Left-arm spinner Ben Platt took four for 13. Gomersal reached their victory target in eight overs with skipper Richard Whitehurst hitting an unbeaten 30.

One Division Two side who put up a good fight against top-flight opponents were Spen Victoria. They made 215-3 at Moorend and it took the home side until the 46th over to knock off the runs with six wickets down.

Former Cleckheaton junior Matthew West enjoyed his promotion to open by scoring 78 and he was well supported by Tosh Baker who hit 71 in a second-wicket stand of 127.

Cleckheaton were given a solid start by Mark Cummins (39) and then picked up the tempo through overseas star Ammar Mahmood (58) and skipper John Wood (35) as Spen's hopes faded.

Division One leaders Pudsey St Lawrence won their tricky-looking tie at Manningham Mills by six wickets. Opener Alex Stead (89) and Gareth Clough (48) led the successful pursuit of Mills' score of 192 all out.

Mills looked likely to post a more formidable total while Gulsheraz Ahmed (70) and Mohammad Altaf 49) were together in a second-wicket stand of 148. Once they were parted the last nine wickets fell for 43 runs.

Pudsey Congs had too much fire-power for Brighouse. Andy Siddall (68no) and Andrew Bairstow (57no) shared an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 101 as Congs overhauled Brighouse's total of 140-9 in just 23 overs. Opener Ben Moody again impressed for Brighouse with 58.

Bankfoot chalked up their first win of the season as they defeated Great Horton by 133 runs. New recruit Arron Brook (75no), Micky Hutchins (55), Greg Fotheringham (40) and Murphy Walwyn (34no) helped them to reach 252-3 before dismissing Great Horton for 119. Teenager Raheel Ahmed top scored for Great Horton with 34 as Greg Colehan (3-20) posed problems.
