Hanging Heaton crush defending champions

Hanging Heaton underlined their credentials as title contenders with a thumping 182-run win over last year's champions Pudsey St Lawrence.

The win enabled them to cur Baildon's lead to five points and was et up by another powerful batting display.

Michael Royce (77), Howard Ellis (60) and Dave Lawrence (51) all made half centuries while James Byrne was unbeaten on 49 when Hanging Heaton were finally dismissed for 267.

St Lawrence made just 85 in reply as Michael Horner picked up 4-44.

Baildon maintained their push for the league title with a 43-run win over Morley.

Dan Atkinson made the top score of 31 in the Baildon total of 177-9 then Jamie Abbott took 3-30 as Morley were restricted to 134, Richard Winn was the pick of the Morley players. He top scored with 31 and took 3-31.

Bradford & Bingley are third after a crushing 131-run win over East Bierley whose relegation is now confirmed.

Michael Clarke (67), Warren Allitt (51) and Adam Swallow (37) helped Bradford & Bingley to 246-5. Andrew Newby was the most successful East Bierley bowler with 4-76. Newby was also top scorer for his side with 32 as they were dismissed for 115 by Waj Ali (5-26) and Danny Trowers (3-29).

Pudsey Congs will also be playing in Division Two next season after a five-wicket defeat by Sovereign Health Care Priestley Shield winners Yeadon. Jon Carey picked up 5-32 as Congs were bowled out for 152. Callum Oliver (36) and Matthew Humpleby (30) were their main contributors. Yeadon cruised to victory with Dave Machell making 69 and Darren Smith (30no).

Bowling Old Lane ran out 72-run winners over a Lightcliffe side who are still not mathematically safe from the threat of relegation.

Shahid Alishan (94), Khalid Rehman (47) and Talat Sajawal (43) helped Old Lane to a score of 242 all out. Lightcliffe replied with 170, skipper Gareth Stevens top scoring with 32no.

Woodlands' teenage off spinner Chris Walker took 5-37 but ended up on the losing side against Farsley. The visitors made 164 thanks largely to Asif Amir (39) then defended their score by dismissing Woodlands for 153 with Zaffer Mahmood taking 3-41,

Hartshead Moor were crowned as Division Two champions when they beat Bankfoot by seven wickets.

They bowled out the home side for just 58 with James Hardcastle taking 3-16 and Martin Riley (3-24).

Hartshead then eased to victory for the loss of three wickets.

With Gomersal losing by ten runs at Keighley, Windhill seized their chance to take second place with a 187-run win at Manningham Mills.

Tahir Amin struck a magnificent 110 not out for Windhill and received support from Ryan Holdsworth (55) and Danny Maguire (44) as a total of 263-7 was compiled. Mills were dismissed for just 76 as Amir Saeed took 6-40, Hassan Mahmood (33) was the only Mills batsman to show any resistance.

Richard Robinson was the key figure in Keighley's victory over Gomersal. Robinson top scored with 96 as Keighley made 178 all out and took 3-29 as Gomersal were restricted to 168-8 in reply. James Tolson (42) and Dave Hilton (42no) were Gomersal's main contributors.

Idle produced the division's surprise result of the day when they defeated fourth-placed Spen Victoria by 11 runs. Matt Brooker was the key man in their success, making 93 as Idle reached 197-3. veteran Tony Brassington (32) and Nick Sugden (32) chipped in with useful runs,

Spen Victoria lost early wickets and despite the efforts of Fez al Rajput (35no) and Tom Loker (32), they were dismissed for 186 with Chirag Patel taking 3-33)

Mohammad Akhbar made 55 to guide Great Horton to an eight-wicket win at Undercliffe, The home side were bowled out for 167 when they batted first. Skipper Sam Brookes was their top scorer with 46. Amir Najeed had a good all-round game for Great Horton, taking 3-42 and making 48. Shabbir Ellahi (3-29) was again amongst the wickets.

Saltaire's Hissan Ahmed struck a fine 110 as his side ran up a total of 291-5 against a much-weakened Brighouse side. Mick Robinson 947no) and Mohammad Halil-ulah (40) also cashed in, Moey Hassan took 4-60 for Brighouse and top scored with 55 as they were bowled out for 86.
