Higgins is a big hit as Farsley romp to victory

Division One

James Higgins blasted a rapid 119 not out as Farsley inflicted a first defeat of the season on league leaders Lightcliffe.

Faced with what looked a challenging Lightcliffe score of 258-8, Farsley raced to their victory target with 13.4 overs to spare.

Higgins hit five sixes and 11 fours and was well supported by Terry Staniforth (74) as they took the game away from Lightcliffe.

  Rob Crookes (82), Richard Thompson (60) and Dave Knight (48) were Lightcliffe's main contributors while Zaffer Mahmood (3-42) and Staniforth (3-78) were Farsley's best bowlers.

Second-placed Baildon are now the only unbeaten team. They had comfortable 90-run success against struggling East Bierley. Ross Todd (66) and Afzal Khan (35) helped them to post 214-7 before dismissing Bierley for 124. Skipper John Davis hit a defiant 46, but his side struggled against Martin Wildsmith (5-17) .

Iain Priestley hasn't had too many second team outings down the years but he certainly enjoyed his taste of action at Cleckheaton, hitting and unbeaten 103 to steer his side to an eight-wicket win. His innings contained five sixes and 12 fours and he was supported by Lee Mortimer (51no) and Dave Dawson (47) as Cleckheaton's total of 224 all out was passed with just two wickets down.

Cleckheaton owed their score to the hitting of Massaver Massidique (79) and young Shahid Rehman (46no). Evergreen Chris Hester picked up three for 32.

Teenage bowler Scott Richardson took five for 29 to bowl Woodlands to a nine-run win over Hanging Heaton. The visitors were dismissed for 144 in reply to Woodlands' score of 153 all out in which Greig Godfrey made 53, Robert Medcalf (32) and Richardson (32) while veteran Peter Byrne picked up five for 31 for Hanging Heaton.

Pudsey Congs remain rooted to the bottom after a 38-run defeat at home to Bradford & Bingley. The visitors made 206-6 with former Congs batsman Warren Allit (55), Andrew Clarke (42) and Adam Swallow (42) leading the way.

Congs were dismissed for 168 despite 47 from Keegan Moodley 47 and 37 from Ijaz Ahmed. The chief destroyer was Richard Slater (5-40)

Nick Darfield's six for 26 helped Yeadon to record a 75-run win over Bowling Old Lane. He was supported by Steve Gilks (3-40) as Old lane, despite 35 from Khalid Rehman, were dismissed for 131 in reply to a Yeadon total of 206-9 which was built around solid knocks from Ryan Mooney (62no) and Dave Machell (52). Talat Sajawal took four for 33 for Old Lane.

 Division Two

Hartshead Moor continue to set the pace after recording a 65-run win over Windhill.

Martin Ellis (58no) and Trent Otto (49) helped them to post a score of 233 all out before Windhill were dismissed for 168 by Martin Riley (4-49) and Otto (4-29). Tahir Amin top scored with 76 for Windhill.

Gomersal are second, 11 points behind, after they defeated Great Horton by 58 runs.

  James Tolson made a fine 84 and skipper Chris Rhodes (37) as a total of 189-9 was made despite the efforts of Mohammad Riaz 4-33).

Great Horton were dismissed for 131 with Ryan Kitson taking four for 35. Sajjid Hussain top scored with 38)

The best bowling performance in the division came from Bankfoot's Chris Brook. the former East Bierley paceman took six for 23 as he and Chris Ignatowski (3-24) dismissed Brighouse for 68. Bankfoot knocked off the runs for the loss of two wickets with Paul Ellis making 42,

All-rounder Zarak Khan was the catalyst for Undercliffe's seven-wicket win over Spen Victoria.

Khan took three for 22 as Spen Victoria were restricted to 157-9, and followed up by hitting 92 as he and Jack Carter (37) steered their side to a victory that puts them in third place.

Alex Towler (5-45) and Hami Shahzad (3-37) bowled Keighley to a 46-run win over Idle. The home side were dismissed for 108 in reply to Keighley's 154 all out - a total built on solid knocks from Paul Wilkinson (51) and Callum Jones (38). Dave Pearce was the best of the bowlers with three for 17.

Irfan Ul-Haq took four for 41 as Manningham Mills defeated Saltaire by six runs in a close encounter, Saltaire were dismissed for 159 in reply to Manningham Mills' 165 all out.

Hassan Ahmed (3-28), Michael Robinson (3-43) and Yassir Qadim (3-50) were the wicket takers for Saltaire.
