Lightcliffe are planning another social event as they continue to raise funds to pay for the purchase of their Wakefield Road ground.
After 125 years of tenancy the club finally took over the ownership last year and have already raised more than £10,000.
The next event is an evening with Brian Close on Thursday, March 18 from 7.30pm at the Old Brodleians Rugby Club, Hipperholme.
Close, a former Yorkshire, Somerset and England captain, was one of the game's great characters who played Test cricket in four decades and first class cricket in five.
He was
involved in a number of controversial and high-profile incidents, and
disagreements with cricket committees. It promises to be an entertaining night!
Tickets are £10 each and include a pie and pea supper and are available from club chairman John Brooke (01422 202930) or Steve Hartley (01484 401 286).
The evening is a mixed event and Lightcliffe would be delighted if members of other clubs would like to attend the event. |
