With the new season just eight days away 15 overseas players have been registered.

Eleven have signed for Division One clubs while just four have been engaged by Division Two outfits.

Clubs have until 1pm on Saturday, April 17 - the opening day of the season - to register an overseas player. The same deadline applies for First Class or Minor Counties players.

However, if clubs want overseas, First Class or Minor Counties players to play on the opening day of the season they have to be registered by 1pm on Saturday, April 10. That is because the league has a new seven day clearing period for every registration or transfer submitted since the March 15 deadline for club's to submit their 2010 lists.

Chief Executive Bob Shackleton said: "It is important that clubs who want players to be eligibile to play on the first day of the season that their registrations are completed by 1pm on April 10."

Seven of the overseas players are returning to the clubs they played for last season, they are Mohammad Azharullah (East Bierley), Lorenzo Inghram (Farsley), Shahzaib Khan (Gomersal), Mohammad Naved (Pudsey Congs), Nawaz Sardar (Pakistan), Sarfraz Ahmed (Woodlands) and Suleman Khan (Great Horton).

The new recruits include three Sri Lankans. Naveed Gharni, an under-19 international who has joined Bradford & Bingley, Tharanga De Silva, a left hand bat and medium pace bowler who will play for Yeadon and Mapa Bandara, a wicketkeeper batsman who has been recruited by Bowling Old Lane.

Champions Baildon, who won the title last year without and overseas player, have signed New Zealander Shane Gadsdon - a teenage wicketkeeper batsman from Northern Districts.

The other newcomers are Ammar Mahmood, a right hand bat and off spin bowler at Cleckheaton, pace bowler Mohammed Waqas at Saltaire, Australian Tom Manvell at Hartshead Moor, and a second Aussie, Jason Wilson, at Morley.
