Lightcliffe gave the 2010 competition thrilling start with the first ever Sunday double header.
The weather might have been cold but the cricket was red hot with two thrilling games games which gave the Dyson Insulations Twenty/20 Cup a great start.
In the first match Lightcliffe defeated Farsley by six wickets with 14-year-old Oliver Hemmingway hitting a boundary off the final ball as Lightcliffe overhauled a Farsley score of 187-3.
Fars;ey opener Steve Simpson hit only the competition's second century when he made 101 off 62 balls with six sixes and eight fours. He was well supporteds by overseas player Lorenzo Inghram who made 52 off 34 ball with two sixes and three fours.
Farsley's total of 187-3 looked impressive but Lightcliffe squeezed home thanks to the efforts of Rick Powe (72no). In his first game of the season, Powe struck three sixes and seven fours.
Lightcliffe's joy at their first match win was tempered by defeat by Pudsey Congs by three runs in another close encounter.
Congs made 182-5 thanks largely to Eugene Burzler hitting 83 and Gareth Phillips (40). Lightcliffe looked set for victory as Jonathan Wilson made 68, David Knight (42) and Rhys Jowett (29) but they fell agonisingly short.
