Division One

Bradford & Bingley staged a remarkable recovery from 29-7 to secure a 74-run win over bottom-of-the-table Gomersal.

Their early order batting was swept away by James Russell (5-69) and Shahzaib Khan (4-34) before James Davies (66) and Rob Walker (58) stopped the rot with an eighth-wicket stand of 108.

Their battling half-centuries enabled Bradford & Bingley to post a total of 201 which seemed improbable in view of their early struggles.

Gomersal, despite a knock of 51 from Danny Lloyd, were dismissed for 127 as Chris Thompson picked up 4-27.

The win moved them up to fifth place in the table, eight points behind East Bierley who were another side to recover well after suffering early setbacks.

Their openers Gavin Hamilton and Gharib Razak were both dismissed before a run had been scored at Baildon, but led by 66 from skipper Lee Goddard and half-centuries from Liam Walsh (58no) and Tom Owens (56) they built a total of 248-7 which proved too daunting a target for lowly Baildon.

They made 196-8 in reply with Richard Atkins battling his way to an unbeaten 87 and Tabbi Bhatti making 43 as paceman Muhammad Azhar Ullah (5-39) ensured a 52-run win for his side.

The top three all continued on their winning ways, leaders Woodlands defeated Farsley by 100 runs, Cleckheaton beat Undercliffe by four-wickets and Pudsey Congs had a five-wicket win at Manningham Mills.

Former York batsman Simon Mason hit his second century of the season to set up Woodlands 12th win in 15 matches.

Mason struck six sixes and eight fours in an unbeaten 105 after openers Scott Richardson (61) and Sam Frankland (30) had launched the innings with a partnership of 80.

Thanks to Mason, who made his runs off 81 balls. Woodlands posted total of 253-4. Farsley never looked like challenging that total once they lost the key wickets of Ian Philliskirk, Joe Greaves and Lorenzo Ingram with just 27 on the board. Ingram collected his second duck against Woodlands in the league this season.

Opener Andrew Duckworth, who showed a welcome return to form with an innings of 77, top scored as Farsley were dismissed for 153 with left-arm spinner Chris Brice taking 4-27 and Sarfraz Ahmed (3-36).

Cleckheaton judged their run chase well as they overhauled an Undercliffe score of 240-6 with 12 balls to spare to record their seventh-successive league win. Mark Cummins (54) and Tim Jackson (53) provided the platform with a second-wicket stand of 104, then Ian Nicholson (45) and Marcus Walmsley (34) supplied quick runs at just the right time.

The highlight of the Undercliffe innings was another fine knock by Callum Geldart. He hit two sixes and 12 fours before being dismissed for 97 by his Yorkshire colleague Iain Wardlaw.

Champions Pudsey Congs had 15 balls to spare as they secured their latest victory at Manningham Mills. Veteran Babar Butt (41no), Adam Patel (40) and Edward Walmsley (34no) steered their side past the home side's total of 170-9 with five wickets down.

Gulsheraz Ahmed (41) was the top scorer for Mills who were kept in check by some good left-arm spin bowling from Glenn Roberts (4-45).

Pudsey St Lawrence notched up the day's highest score. They made 281-8 as they defeated Hanging Heaton by 13 runs in a high-scoring encounter at Tofts Road.

David Stiff (57), Dave Hester (52), Chris Marsden (47) and Adam Waite (32) helped St Lawrence compile their big total despite the determined efforts of Nick Bresnan (4-46) and Mark Lawson (3-57).

Hanging Heaton were undaunted by the size of their target facing them and got off to a brisk start as Mark Lawson (65) and Rob McFarlane (55) shared an opening stand of 105.

James Stansfield continued the good work with an innings of 63 and Hanging Heaton looked well set to challenge for victory when they reached 216-2, with 12 overs to go, but wickets fell in pursuit of quick runs and they finished on 268-8 as left-arm pace bowler Craig Wiseman picked up 5-51.

Division Two

Saltaire underlined their determination to hold on to the leadership as they romped to a seven-wicket win at Yeadon.

Their slow bowlers Azhar Sharif (3-32) and Ijaz Khan (3-44) sent Yeadon spinning out for just 122. Kasir Maroof was once again the pick of the Yeadon bastmen with 48.

The modest target presented few problems to Saltaire as the in-form Fahid Rehman (36no) led them to their latest success.

Lightcliffe returned to winning ways and reduced Saltaire’s lead to eight points with a 51-run win over Bowling Old Lane.

Skipper Jonathan Wilson (59) and Chris Taylor (51) led the way for Lightcliffe while young Jacob Waterson impressed with an unbeaten 49 in a total of 208-7. Kamran Siddique (3-51) and Mubtada Akhtar (3-73) were the most successful Old Lane bowlers.

Old Lane were dismissed for 157 in reply with Akhtar (40) and Abid Alishan (30) their top scorers as left-arm spinner Chris Greenwood picked up 4-35.

Keighley moved into third place with an emphatic 195-run win at Bankfoot. Imran Patel (83), Richard Robinson (73) and Simon Bailey (32) helped Keighley to a total of 252-7 before skipper Ross Towler (5-24) and Robinson (3-11) rolled over Bankfoot for just 57. John Barton (35) made the bulk of their runs.

Great Horton’s overseas player Suleman Khan hit a magnificent 153 and ended up on the losing side. Hartshead Moor overhauled Great Horton’s total of 255-9 thanks to an unbeaten 111 from Simon North which clinched a six-wicket success.
Khan struck 12 sixes and ten fours as he dominated the Great Horton innings, but Hartshead Moor hit back with North and Graham Hilton (69) sharing a third-wicket stand of 110. Skipper North hit three sixes and ten fours.

Lowly Spen Victoria again saw a game slip from their grasp as they suffered a ten run defeat against Morley.

Skipper Tosh Baker (63) and Matt Garside (51) put on 82 for the first wicket, but once they were parted the innings started to fall apart. The last seven wickets fell for 20 runs as Nathan Bromby (3-31) and Dave Nebard (3-33) dismissed them for 153

Morley’s total of 163 owed much to a mature innings of 56 from their young opener James McNichol and 33 from the experienced Colin Nuthall. Craig Woodhead (3-35), and Rob Burton (3-55) were Spen’s best bowlers.

Sohail Hussain returned impressive figures of 6-40 as Idle defeated Brighouse by 109 runs. Only Dean Crossley (41) resisted Hussain and Sonny Matharu (3-30) long as Brighouse were dismissed for 130 in reply to Idle’s 243-8 – a score that owed much to a fine 84 from Amrit Boghal and 46 from Harpal Ryatt, Dominic Walsh took 4-56 for Brighouse.
