| Sir Jack Hobbs makes a century for Idle against Saltaire andSF Barnes, July 7, 1917 |
The first episode is due to be screened this Sunday from 8-9pm with the second one going out a week later.
Club President, Jeff Driver is to be shown with club memorabilia showing old scorebooks containing the feats of the great Sydney Barnes from 1915-1923.
These books contain matches showing Barnes breaking Bradford League records many of which still hold today.
They show memorable encounters with players like Sir Jack Hobbs who was playing for Idle during the First World War.
The memorabilia also includes the exploits of Jim Laker who started his career with Saltaire and other cricketing greats such as Bill Copson who played for the club during the Second World War. It is also believed that there will also be film of the club's ground at Roberts Park.
The club has an amazing history which will now be shared nationwide. Some of the scorebooks were on display in last year's Bradford League exhibition entitled 107 Not out at Bradford's Industrial Museum.
Saltaire have plans to permanently display its memorabilia in the Half Moon cafe which already displays many old club photographs. |
