All Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup and Shield ties will be settled on the day following the publication of the new competition rules,
Continuation dates have been scrapped and rain affected ties will now be decided on faster run-rate. And where it is not possible for each side to face ten overs each a bowl out or a toss of the coin will settle the tie.
The new rules were drawn up by a Management Board Working party headed by Chief Executive Bob Shackleton. The two players' representatives Chris Taylor and Babar Butt plus treasurer David Young completed the panel.
Under the new rules overs will be deducted at a rate of two every six minutes when rain intervenes.
If it happens before the start of play the remaining overs will be split between the two sides when play is eventually possible.
If weather prevents the side batting second from having the same number of overs as the side batting first the result will be determined on overall run rate.
