A guide to the new rules and innovations for 2011
So what is new for 2011?
Posted:April 13, 2011

With the new season about to swing into action here is a guide to what is new for the JCT600 Bradford League in 2011.

Fielding circles: The 30 yard fielding circle, already used in Sovereign HealthCare Priestley Cup and Shield matches is being introduced for all league games. Throughout the entire innings the fielding side must have four fielders, plus the bowler and wicketkeeper, inside the circle at the point of delivery.

Match points: The number of points awarded for an abandoned match has been increased from two to five. In addition the sides will retain any bonus points earned. The bonus points remain unchanged with points being earned for 125, 150, 175, 200 and 225 runs. Bowling bonus points are earned for 2,4,6, 8 and 10 wickets.

Bad light: The JCT600 Bradford League has adopted the new MCC Law under which the captains no longer have the right to appeal against the light. The umpires will decide if light is too bad for play to continue.

Umpires fees: In line with other competitions, these have been increased from £30 to £35. This is the first increase for three years.

Cup and Shield rules: All ties will now be decided on the day. The new rules provide for a number of ways for weather-affected ties to be decided, from reduced overs games down to a minimum of 10 overs a side, a scoring rate comparison provided the side batting second has batted for a minimum of 10 overs, and finally a bowl out. Umpire Assessment
A new form has been produced for captains to complete after every match. It has been reduced to three sections with two categories in each. The new form can be downloaded from the front page of this website or by clicking the link below.

Player registration
All players playing in the JCT600 Bradford League have been registered on-line on the new www.playerreg.co.uk site. The pictures of all senior players are displayed on the site along with their name and registration number. There are names but no pictures for juniors. The new system will greatly reduce the amount of work involved in the registration process. As a result of the new system the league has waived its previous seven day rule for the processing of additional registrations and transfers. Now the deadline for a player to play in that weekend's matches (Saturday or Sunday) is midnight on Thursday each week. No additional registrations can be made after June 29.

Laptop scoring
All first teams will be scoring by laptop this season. Last year 20 of the 25 clubs used the TCS software and this season they will be joined by Bowling Old Lane, Hanging Heaton, Idle, Morley, and Windhill. All of the netbooks issued to clubs have been updated with the latest TCS software, version 6. New instructions for scorers are available by clicking the links below.
