Slipless in Settle; a slow turn around Northern Cricket
by Harry Pearson
Published in paperback at 12.99 or 7.99 from Amazon.
A very good read for the New Year! The book is based on the author's visits in 2009 to a match in virtually all the major cricket leagues in the North of England.
The JCT600 Bradford League is featured with a visit to Windhill at home to Bowling Old Lane.
The author is much taken with Sir Learrie Constantine playing for Windhill in the war years!
Coming up to date, I knew Craig Wiseman would finally see his name in print!
Many of the other clubs and individuals featured will be well known to members of the Bradford League.
It is written with a feeling and understanding for the game and is, I suggest,a must for all lovers of league and club cricket. I commend it to you.
Six points on a Saturday
by Yorkshire Television
In 1985 Yorkshire Television screened Six points on Saturday, a documentary on Pudsey St. Lawrence Cricket Club, looking at the many aspects of running a Bradford League Club.
It was very well received, featuring many of the characters of the club, some of whom are
still around today!
The film has been mastered and is now on the St Lawrence website and is worth viewing if only to see the late Laurie Tempest in full flow!
There are four videos so have a good half hour's viewing.
