Duckworth and Lumb send holders crashing to defeat

Farsley underlined their determination to be serious contenders to win the 2011 Dyson Insulations Twenty/20 Cup as they defeated holders Clearwater St Lawrence by 93 runs.

Opener Andrew Duckworth set up the emphatic victory with a blistering innings of 116 which included eight sixes and ten fours. Craig Thornton (36no) and Joe Greaves (30) helped push the Farsley total to an impressive 237-3.

Pudsey St lawrence never threatenbed to challenge that score as they were dismissed for 144. David Stiff (40) and Matthew Lumb (31) were their top scorers while Ryan Lumb finished with the impressive bowling figures of 5-27 for Farsley.

Cleckheaton opened their campaign with a four-wicket win over Brighouse in a low-scoring game at Moorend. Brighouse stumbled to 91-8 ib their 20 overs as Cleckheaton knocked off the runs in 11.2 overs.
