Bradford & Bingley qualified for their third successive Dyson Insulations Twenty/20 Cup final when they defeated Hanging Heaton by six wickets at Wagon Lane last night.
After losing in the last two years to Pudsey St Lawrence they will be hoping to go one better when they take on Cleckheaton under the Wagon Lane floodlights tonight.
Hanging Heaton paid the price for a below-par batting display which saw them restricted to 126-8 after skipper Nick Bresnan won the toss and elected to bat first.
Joe Fraser, the highest scorer in this season's competition, top scored with 37, but even he wasn't able to dominate the bowling.
Skipper Phil Slater (3-17) and Naweed Ghany (2-16) ensured that Bradford & Bingley were able to keep the scoring rate under control.
Opener Simon Davies struck a rapid 36 as he and Scott Etherington added 45 for the first wickets.
Bradford & Bingley continued to make good progress until they lost three wickets for three runs to slip to 82-4.
With Mark Lawson's taking 2-16 the pressure was on Bradford & Bingley for the first time, but Chris Thompson (26no) and Naweed Ghany (26no) ensured there were no more alarms as they steered their side to victory with five overs to spare. |
