Umpires Bobby Gartside and David Ellis abandon play |
Heavy rain washed out play in today's Solly Sports Heavy Woollen Cup final after just 13 overs.
Wrenthorpe, who had won the toss,were 59-2, when the heavens opened. The square and outfield were soon awash making it a simple decision for umpires David Ellis and Bobby Gartside to abandon play.
Both wickets to fall went to Ritchie Bresnan, brother of England's Tim, who removed both openers Gary Fellows and Danny Wood.
Fellows was well caught at mid on by the diving Jonathan Booth for eight, while Wood was bowled for 21.
David Paynter had moved smoothly to 23 befor eplay was halted.
The final will now be replayed at Liversedge on Sunday, September 2 with a noon start.
