President Keith Moss has spoken of the need for the JCT600 Bradford League to face up to its challenges and seize new opportunities whenever they arise.
Speaking just days after taking over the leadership of the Management Board following chairman Graham Reid's decision to stand down, he has highlighted areas he would like to focus on during his time at the helm.
He said: "In the six years since we created the Management Board we have made important strides and had significant achievements in introducing laptop scoring, on-line registration, establishing our league website and improving the quality of our pitches.
"My one regret is that we have not attracted any new teams into the league during my time as president."
The president has stressed the need for the Management Board to be more forward looking.
"It is important that we build on our successes and I would like to see us focus more on the future," he said.
"We need to be pro-active and not reactive and we have to look at opportunities and threats to our league.
"These are tough time for our clubs. The economic climate has challenged all of them and it is important as a board that we offer support, help and advice where it is needed.
"The league is the clubs and we as a board have to do what we can for them. There are some very talented people on the board and it I see it as an important that we identify the best ways of using their skills for the benefit of the league."
Moss is passionate about Bradford League cricket and believes it is attractive to cricket watchers.
He said: "One of the things I would like to see is everybody working to promote Bradford League cricket and put ideas into practice to get more people watching matches.
"It would be beneficial for all clubs to be more innovative in their approach to attracting people to their grounds. I believe we have a good product, but we need to try and attract a wider audience.
"I am convinced that with key sponsorships from JCT600 for the league and Sovereign Health Care for the Priestley Cup and Shield in place, the league is in good form. We face the season with optimism but not complacency. It is vital we have the spirit and enthusiasm as a league to move forward." |
