The Management Committee have tonight issued their rulings on all of the outstanding Solly Sports Heavy Woollen Cup and Crowther Cup ties.
In the case of the Heavy Woollen Cup tie between Liversedge and Gomersal and the Crowther Cup tie between Farsley and Carlton where the bowl out wasn't carried out on Sunday when the respective matches were abandoned, bowl outs have been ordered for this Thursday.
The outstanding Heavy Woollen Cup ties Barnsley v Doncaster Town, Clayton West v Esholt, and Wickersley v Birstall must be played this Sunday, May 20. If no play is possible a bowl out will be conducted to determined the winners. the same applies to the Crowther Cup tie between Featherstone and Keighley.
Methley have conceeded their Heavy Woollen Cup second round tie to Woodlands because they are going ahead with their ECB Cockspur Cup tie against Loughborough on Sunday.
In making their decision the committee stated that the seven day period specified in the rules for the switching of fixtures to accomodate other commitments could not be extended.
The Managemenet Comittee has also endorsed the results of the Heavy Woollen Cup tie between Golcar and Carlton and the Crowther Cup clash between Shelley and Idle where the respective captains agreed to determine the outcome on the toss of a coin when conditions were unsuitable for a bowl out to take place.
For the third round, the last in this season's competition where the bowl out is in operation, the Management Committee have issued a new directive to all clubs. It states that where the umpires, who are the sole judges of the fitness of a ground for a bowl out deem that conditions are too dangerous to put the safety of the players at risk, a toss of a coin should be used to determine the winners.
As a result of the problems thrown up by the weather-wrecked second round, a four-man emergency committee jas been established to try to resolve issues when they arise. The panel consists od Dave Sharp (President), Benny Hemming (Secretary), Ron Tindall (Fixture Secretary) and Alan Birkinshaw (Committee member).
Wath and Armitage Bridge, who both withdrew from their respective Heavy Woollen Cup second round ties against Idle and Delph & Dobcross, have each been fined a total of £111, this comprises of a £30 punishment for non fulfiment, £56 for two umpires fees and a £25 payment for teas as specified in the competition rules. They will each have to apply for readmission to the competition.
