At last Idle managed to triumph in a cup game that eventually took over two weeks to complete.The game started on Monday, July 16, with Cleckheaton batting.
Due to them only having nine players present it took them nearly two hours to complete their innings, using every tactic in the book to slow the game down to try and get their extra players there. This they were unable to do and ended up all out for 85.
During the interval, as has so often been the case this summer, the heavens opened and the match was abandoned.
After numerous attempts the match was eventually completed Friday, August 3. The ground was somehow different for the Idle innings with the top boundary being some 25 yards longer than when Cleckheaton batted and three new names appeaed to bowl at them.
This spurred the Idle team on and in an innings that fluctuated, they eventually reached the total with five balls to spare. The pick of the Idle batting being T Johnson 28* and a marvelous seventh wicket stand of 14 by D Baines 8* and J Moore 6* which saw the team across the finishing line.
Now to the semi-final away at Thackley on Monday, August 13.
