The forecast was not good but fortunately the weather held off and the derby game with Thackley took place.
On a damp wicket and overcast conditions, which were always going to assist any bowler who could exploit them.
Thackley won the toss and put Idle into bat. Idle cautiously made their way to a total of 89 off their 20 overs, thanks in the main to a fine 28 by G Wilkinson.
In reply, Thackley were just blown out of the game by an unbelievable display of swing bowling, T Johnson taking five wickets for only one run in three overs, reducing Thackley to five for sevenin their first five overs. They rallied slightly and managed to get to 29 when they lost their last wicket . Idle won by 60 runs.
