New Look Idle Start Well
Posted: April 17, 2007
After the first team had locked horns on Saturday the fixture and the result were the opposite on Sunday at Cavendish Road .
New look Idle second XI led by Graham Dobson won the toss and decided to bat and the skipper led from the front with an excellent half-century that included some swashbuckling boundaries and with very useful contributions from Darren Lyons and Steve Bishop they posted a more than handy total of 188.
Thackley got off to a very good start through youngsters Shields and Wood, who both represented their first XI the day before, until a superb bit of fielding from Idle junior Josh Marsden forced a run out and the pair were broken.
This brought a steady flow of wickets and despite valuable runs from Heany and Boocock they fell short by 38 runs and were all out for 150.
Veteran Paul Howker, Bradley Goodaire and debutant Imran Faisal all took two wickets each and hopefully they can re-produce this form in next Saturday's league opener against Hartshead Moor.
