Woodlands v Pudsey Congs

Woodlands will be hoping it is a case of third time-lucky at Albert Terrace on Sunday. In the past two seasons Pudsey Congs defeated them in the final, now they want revenge in this semi-final tie at Albert Terrace. The league champions are also keen to avenge the defeat Congs inflicted on them in the league on the same ground earlier this season. If Woodlands are successful they will become only the second team to reach four successive finals, equalling the record set by East Bierley between 1997 and 2000. Congs have a record in their sights too. They want to equal East Bierley's run of three straight cup wins between 1998 and 2000. The formbook makes it hard to seperate the sides. Woodlands have been well served by their execellent bowling attack this season with Safraz Ahmed, Pieter Swanepoel, Richard Pyrah, Richard Spittlehouse and left arm spinner Chris Brice paving the way for many of their wins, but their batting has been less reliable. Opener Scott Richartdson gave indications that he is emerging from a lean spell last weekend, while skipper Tim Orrell, Adam Goldthorpe and Safraz Ahmed have shown that they can turn the course of a game in a short space of time. Congs have relied on their batsmen to see them to some crucial wins in recent weeks. Young Scott Cunningham and Bradley Parker have been the two outstanding performers in a strong line-up. Congs have been hit by injuries to key bowlers Mohammed Azhar Ullah, Neil Gill, Mark Bray and Glenn Roberts in recent weeks, but all apart from Bray are expected to play. Bray has been dogged by a shoulder injury and though he played against Hanging Heaton last week, he looked uncomfortable. Congs have secured permission from the Management Board for Essex all-rounder James Middlebrook to play and if the county agree to him playing, he will give their side a boost. This tie looks incredibly hard to call and it will probably be won by the side who keep their nerve under pressure.
Men to watch: Richard Pyrah (Woodlands), Scott Cunningham (Pudsey Congs)

Bowling Old Lane v Hanging Heaton

Bowling Old Lane have been the giant-killers of the competition. They have defeated two Division One sides already, Farsley and Idle, as well as beating Spen Victoria in a thrilling quarter-final. Old Lane would love to emulate the achievements of Bradford & Bingley who were the last Division Two side to win the cup in 2003. This promises to be another tough test for Old Lane, but they will be boosted by having home advantage again. Hanging Heaton, bidding to reach their first final since 2000 know they face a real battle. They will no doubt be relying on their powerful batting line-up to see them through. Their Sri Lankan overseas star Thilan Thushara has made a big impact while Bandula Don has also produced a number of explosive innings. With the talented former Yorkshire wicketkeeper Ismail Dawood, former Hampshire all-rounder Zak Morris and Nick Whitehill to complement them, Hanging Heaton have the ability to post big scores or chase testing totals. If Bowling Old Lane are to spring another upset their best chance will surely rest on them putting pressure on a Hanging Heaton bowling attack which has not proved as effective as their team's batting.
Men to watch: Imran Mirza (Bowling Old Lane), Ismail Dawood (Hanging Heaton)
