Things go from bad to worse for the Second Teams Division One champions Hanging Heaton. Rooted to the bottom of the table, their misery was compounded as Second Division Great Horton sent them tumbling out of the Sovereign HealthCare Priestley Shield.
Mohammed Doud (4-16) and Mohammed Ibrar (3-28) skittled Hanging Heaton out for 67 to seal a a73-run success for their team. Shabbir Ellahi had hit three sixes and six fours in an unbeaten 69 as Great Horton made 140. Andrew Nettleton (3-35) was the pick of the Hanging Heaton bowlers.
Great Horton's reward is a home tie against Lightcliffe who defeated Idle by five wickets. Rob Crookes (46) and Javed Iqbal (38) top scored for Lightcliffe as they passed their opponents' score of 162 all out. Mark Whiley was Lightcliffe's most successful bowler with three for 26.
Holders Yeadon powered into the quarter-finals and lined up an away game against East Bierley - the team they beat in last season's final. John Henry hit a magnificent 131 not out as Yeadon made 212 for six before bowling out Baildon for 100. Dave Summerscales took three for 30.
Opener Aaron Brook continued his good form for East Bierley by making 87 as they defeated Division Two leaders Saltaire by 60 runs. Terry Staniforth (41) also made a good contribution as East Bierley made 243 all out.
Saltaire were unable to challenge East Bierley's total. They were dismissed for 183 despite 77 from Qasim Akbar.
Division One leaders Keighley were brushed aside by Woodlands. Keighley were dismissed for 83 as Joel Metcalfe (4-16) and Greg Godfrey (4-34) bowled well. Woodlands cruised to their target for the loss of just one wicket with Cieran Garner making an unbeaten 54 which contained nine fours.
Woodlands will be away to Pudsey St Lawrence in the last eight. St Lawrence defeated Brighouse by three wickets to clinch their place. Opener Mark Stringer made an unbeaten 67 to steer his side home. He received good support from Tom Shaffner (33).
Brighouse had made 173 for six, a score which owed much to the determined efforts of Robin Lambert 66. James Milligan was the most successful St Lawrence bowler with three for 30.
Pudsey Congs defeated Undercliffe by five wickets and now await the winners of next week's tie between Windhill and Bowling Old Lane.
Undercliffe were dismissed for 130 as they faltered badly after an opening stand of 53 between Russell Heritage (33) and Michael Hustler (24). Phil Higgins (3-12) and Geoff Galvin (3-41) cashed in on Undercliffe's collapse.
Congs eased home with Paul Ashton (30) and Higgins (32no) being their main contributors.
Bowling Old Lane clinched the final place in the quarter-finals of the Sovereign Health Care Priestley Shield when they defeated Windhill by 108 runs in their delayed second round tie.
Old Lane recovered from being ten for two to post an impressive total of 288 for six. Amar Rahim (92), Haqueeq Siddique (80) and Khalid Rehman (76) all played important knocks for their side.
Windhill started brightly in reply with Richard Carr (42) and Peter Nicholls (34) sharing a first-wicket partnership of 87, but the innings faded away after they were parted with only Greg Wilkinson (35) making any real impression.
Siddique (3-28) and Adeel Mir (3-38) were the most successful bowlers for Old Lane who will be away to Pudsey Congs in the next round on June 18.
